A Nedbank Zimbabwe marketing executive, Joel Gombera, who also works closely with the Zimbabwe senior national netball team, who is facing allegations of an illicit relationship with Gems player is set to appear before a disciplinary hearing soon, a close has confirmed.
Gombera is being accused of abusing his position to propose Sharon Bwanali, who turns out for ZDF Queens.
The allegations, which surfaced recently suggest Gombera has been involved in an improper affair with the player.
According to information at hand with Zimeye, some members of the Zimbabwe Netball Association (Zina) executive have raised concern over Gombera’s conduct in his dual role.
They allege that as marketing personnel for Nedbank, the sole sponsor of the Gems, Gombera could be using his position to lure players, a development they fear may cause divisions within the squad.
The source said that his role as marketing executive is focused on promoting the sport and supporting the sponsorship, not interfering with the team’s internal affairs.
Joel Gombera and Sharon Bwanali could not be reached for comment at the time of publishing.
The Zina executive has also not yet issued an official statement on the matter.
