Six people died on the spot, while 40 others were injured in a road traffic accident that occurred at the 131-kilometre peg along the Harare–Mukumbura Road on Thursday, 30 October, at around 4:30 AM.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the accident, saying a Yutong bus carrying 55 passengers suffered a tyre burst, causing the driver to lose control. The bus overturned once and landed on its side.
Police said the bodies of the deceased were taken to Bindura Provincial Hospital for post-mortem examinations, while the injured passengers were referred to Karanda, Madziwa, Mt Darwin, and Bindura Hospitals for treatment.
The ZRP added that the names of the victims will be released once next of kin have been notified.
