A pastor from Zvishavane has been remanded in custody after being charged with aggravated indecent assault on an 18-year-old male, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has confirmed.

The alleged incident took place on 11 August 2025 at the victim’s home in Redcliff. The victim woke to find the pastor engaging in inappropriate behaviour.

When questioned, the accused reportedly said the victim was “too handsome” and, due to his lack of facial hair, the pastor felt as if he was with a woman.

The pastor is alleged to have forcibly removed the victim’s shorts, threatened him with a gun to prevent him from screaming, and assaulted him sexually three times.

He allegedly further coerced the victim into performing a sexual act before leaving the home around 6:30 AM.
The victim disclosed the assault to his aunt later that same day, prompting a report at Redcliff Police Station.

The accused was subsequently arrested and appeared before the Kwekwe Magistrates’ Court.

He has been remanded in custody and is expected back in court on 27 August 2025 for trial.
