Confederation of Southern African Football Association (COSAFA) Vice President, Sahid Ali and Confederation of African Football (CAF) Vice President Feizal Sidat have arrived in Zimbabwe ahead of the 2025 COSAFA Under-17 Championship final, a regional AFCON qualifier, scheduled for Saturday.

They were welcomed at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport on Thursday morning by Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) President Nqobile Magwizi and ZIFA General Secretary Yvonne Manwa.

The COSAFA U17 tournament is currently underway in Harare and will reach the semifinal stage on Thursday.

A statement from ZIFA read:
“At Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport, Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) President Mr. Nqobile Magwizi and ZIFA General Secretary Ms. Yvonne Manwa proudly welcomed two distinguished football leaders: Mr. Feizal Sidat, President of the Mozambican Football Association and Vice President of CAF, and Mr. Sahid Ali, Vice President of COSAFA. They are in Zimbabwe to witness the COSAFA U17 Championship semifinals at Ngoni Mwos Stadium today, with the grand final set for Saturday. This historic occasion highlights Zimbabwe’s growing role in shaping the future of football in the region.”

The semifinals will take place at Ngoni Mwos Stadium in Norton, with South Africa facing Comoros in the early kick-off at 12:00 CAT, followed by Mozambique versus Angola at 15:00 CAT.

Both semifinal winners will not only contest the COSAFA U17 Championship final but will also qualify for the 2026 CAF Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations. The third ticket to AFCON will be awarded to the winner of the third-place playoff.
