The City of Harare’s Dental Service Manager, Dr Ebenezar Ngwenyama, has died at the age of 51.

In a statement, the municipality described Dr Ngwenyama as one of the finest dental professionals to serve the city, noting her integrity, humility, and dedication to public service.

Born on 25 April 1974 in Masvingo, she joined the City of Harare on 26 June 2009 as a contract Dental Officer. She was confirmed as a permanent Dental Officer on 1 July 2010 and promoted to Dental Service Manager in December 2012, a position she held until her death on 29 August 2025.

Mayor Councillor Jacob Mafume, together with councillors, the Acting Town Clerk, management, and staff, expressed condolences to the Ngwenyama family, recognising her significant contribution to the city’s health services.

Dr Ngwenyama held a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Zimbabwe (2009) and a Diploma in Dental Therapy from the Health Professions Council of Zimbabwe (1997).

The city commended her exemplary professional record, saying her entire tenure was free of misconduct and marked by commitment to her work. The statement read:

“Her integrity and humility endeared you to all during her service until the time she passed away.

“There were no records of misconducts, which were recorded in her tenure of service.

“The City of Harare was glad to have her and we are grateful for her contributions to the organisation.

“The support and goodwill she had shown over the years to the organisation is being highly appreciated.

“Her leadership skills and presence will be greatly missed.”
