The High Court has granted a 29-year-old Norton man accused of murdering and mutilating another man US$100 bail.

Pardon Jena, who is facing a murder charge, appeared before Justice Regis Dembure, represented by lawyers Panashe Mujawo and Mazvita Sibanda. He is expected to return to court on Wednesday for a routine remand.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Jena and the victim, Patrice Tinashe Chipaumire, left Seaways Bar in Norton at around 2 AM on 25 August 2025.

It is alleged that the two men argued near Kufa Garage, during which Jena stabbed Chipaumire in the neck, causing him to collapse.

Prosecutors claim Jena went on to mutilate Chipaumire’s private parts and left cheek before fleeing the scene.
At around 6 AM, a passerby came across Chipaumire’s body, which had a deep neck wound, missing genitals, and severe facial injuries. The police were called immediately and launched a manhunt.

Jena was arrested later that day at around 6 PM near the Petrotrade Garage in Katanga, Norton.
