A Kwekwe man has been missing since 26 January after he was attacked by a crocodile while crossing the Mbembeswani River.
Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector, Emmanuel Mahoko identified the missing man as Tichaona Muguti, an employee at Kingten Mine.
Muguti was with a colleague, Trust Ngwenya, at the time of the incident.
“Tichaona Muguti was attacked by a crocodile in the Mbembeswani River, Mbizo in Kwekwe on January 26 at about 6 pm.”
Mahoko said Muguti was accompanied by Trust Ngwenya (24) from Makaure Business Centre.
“As they were midway crossing the Mbembeswani River, a crocodile emerged and attacked Tichaona Muguti, who was in front and submerged him in the water.”
Mahoko said other men who were nearby were informed but were unable to help.
He added that Muguti has not been seen since, and it is feared he may have been eaten by crocodiles.
The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority and the ZRP Sub-aqua Unit carried out searches, but so far there have been no positive results.
