ZANU PF factional fights reach boiling point, after President Emerson Mnangagwa’s ally Tonderai Chidawa unceremoniously abandoned a slated press conference at Media Center in Harare on Thursday morning .
Chidawa was due to address the press warning those he deemed to be against President Mnangagwa’s 2030 Agenda but was forced to cancel the event after it emerges that clashes were about to take place at the venue.
ZANU PF is expected to convene its annual conference in Mutare from October 10, top of the agenda is to extend President Mnangagwa’s tenure of office beyond 2 terms.
Sources within the police told this publication that tensions are high in the ruling party and Chidawa’s press conference might trigger deadly intra party violence.
ZANUPF succession battle has now intensified, with both factions of President Mnangagwa and Vice-President General Retired Constantino Chiwenga unleashing people to defend them on social media platforms, while others are pushing their supporters to highlight their supposed political strengths.
At the center of it all, the issue of corruption has emerged as a central point, with both factions hurling accusations of corruption at each other.
President Mnangagwa reportedly canceled his trip to New York where he was supposed to attend United Nations General Assembly over political tensions in the ruling party.
