A 48-year-old teacher has been arrested for allegedly raping a 12-year-old Grade 4 pupil during extra lessons in Hopley.
Collen Banda, who lives in Hopley Zone 4, is accused of threatening the girl and then raping her without protection while they were alone in the classroom.
After the incident, the pupil reported the assault, which led to Banda’s arrest.
Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, a spokesperson for the Harare provincial police, confirmed the arrest and stated that the police are investigating the case.
“The victim was taken to MSF Edith Clinic in Mbare for medical examinations,” said Insp Chakanza.
