14 Killed In Malawi-Bound BRD Luxury Coach Crash In Zimbabwe

Fourteen people died on Tuesday afternoon when a Malawi-bound BRD Luxury Coach bus travelling from Cape Town, South Africa, was involved in an accident in Zimbabwe.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the accident in a brief statement issued on Tuesday night.

The ZRP said: “The ZRP reports a fatal road traffic accident which occurred this afternoon at 176 km peg along the Harare – Nyamapanda road near Suswe.

“A Malawi-bound BRD Luxury Coach bus, which was coming from Cape Town, South Africa, had an accident near Suswe at around 1300 hours. Initial police attended at the scene indicated that 14 people died.

“The bus was carrying 63 passengers, and some of the injured victims were taken to Mutoko District Hospital and Kotwa District Hospital.”

The ZRP said further details, including the cause of the accident and the identities of the victims, will be released in due course as investigations continue.
