Chitungwiza Mayor Rosaria Mangoma has expressed her condolences following the death of Tyron Mugove Chamboko (40), who died in the town in a freak accident on Saturday afternoon.
Chamboko, from Mubobo Village in Seke, tragically lost his life when a jacaranda tree fell onto the car he was sitting in at Makoni Business Centre, Chitungwiza.
In a statement issued on Monday, 1 December, Cllr Mangoma offered her heartfelt sympathies to the Chamboko family, their friends, and the communities of Seke Rural and the Manyame Rural District Council.
“I learnt with deep regret and profound sorrow of the tragic Jacaranda tree incident that claimed the life of Tyron Mugove Chamboko (40) at Makoni Business Centre on Saturday afternoon.
“On behalf of Chitungwiza Municipality, the entire Chitungwiza community, and myself, I extend heartfelt condolences to the Chamboko family, friends, and the communities of Seke Rural and Manyame Rural District Council.
“We mourn the loss of a son, brother, father, friend, neighbour, and valued member of our wider community whose life was sadly cut short.
“Preliminary indications suggest that the incident occurred during a period of unexpected heavy rains and strong winds.
“Relevant authorities are looking into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“The Chitungwiza Fire Brigade, working closely with the Zimbabwe Republic Police, responded swiftly and removed the victim from the wreckage before he was transported to Chitungwiza Central Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.”
Mangoma urged the public to exercise caution during the rainy season by avoiding parking under large trees, staying alert when driving through flooded areas, and, if their wipers are not working properly, stopping and only continuing their journey once it is safe to do so.
“May the soul of Tyron Mugove Chamboko rest in eternal peace, and may his family find strength and comfort during this difficult time.”
