Three men have appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Court on charges of unlawfully possessing specially protected wildlife trophies.

Emmanuel Genius Mombe, 36, of Domboshava; Benjamin Sarewa, 26, of Epworth; and Shadreck Gukutu, 31, of Waterfalls were arrested on 5 November 2025 at Kopje Bus Terminus in Harare following a police sting operation.

Police acted on a tip-off that the suspects were seeking buyers for vulture heads.

Detectives arranged a meeting with the first accused, who produced a black plastic bag containing four dried vulture heads. Officers immediately identified themselves and arrested him.

Further investigations led to the arrests of the other two men, who were waiting nearby for the transaction to be completed.

The trio has been remanded in custody until 21 November 2025.
