Zimbabweans have called on businessman and philanthropist Sir Wicknell Chivhayo to recognise prominent traditional healer Sekuru Banda for his outstanding contributions to uplifting disadvantaged communities across the country.
The calls came after Sekuru Banda donated food hampers worth US$10,000 to underprivileged families in Cherima and Dombotombo suburbs of Marondera, Mashonaland East Province.
Beneficiaries praised Sekuru Banda’s generosity, describing him as a man who gives selflessly without discrimination.
“Despite being a Muslim, Sekuru Banda has a big heart for giving. He helps people in need regardless of their political, social, or religious background. To him, we are all equal before God,” said James Maphosa a Dombotombo resident.
Another recipient, Tawanda Moyo, expressed gratitude for the timely assistance, noting that many families were struggling to make ends meet.
The hampers included rice, sugar, beans, maize meal, cooking oil, salt, and soap essentials that brought relief to dozens of struggling households.
This recent gesture adds to Sekuru Banda’s long history of charitable acts. During the COVID-19 lockdowns, when artists were struggling to survive, he extended a helping hand to several local figures, including the late comedian Marabha, musician Paradzai Mesi, boxer Mosquito, former football legend George Shaya, and socialite Lady Squander.
His support went beyond cash and groceries he built a six-roomed house for Marabha in Epworth, provided medical assistance and food to George Shaya, and supplied sanitary wear to underprivileged schoolgirls in rural communities.
Given his sustained acts of generosity and social impact, community members across Zimbabwe are now urging prominent figures such as Sir Wicknell Chivhayo, ZANU PF Central Committee member Kuda Tagwirei, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, and Presidential Investment Advisor Dr Paul Tungwarara to officially recognise Sekuru Banda for his remarkable philanthropic work.
Sekuru Banda has transformed many live in the country through his Philanthropy.
