Tinotenda Tungwarara, the teenage daughter of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s investment advisor, Paul Tempter Tungwarara, stole the show at Friday’s commissioning event at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, where she invited nurses to twerk in return for cash.
She encouraged staff at the event onto the dance floor, where they showed off their moves to loud music in the background as they waited for President Emmerson Mnangagwa to arrive and officially commission the new infrastructure at Adlam House.
The nurses, comprising both males and females, were handed crisp US$100 notes while onlookers cheered them on.
Meanwhile, Tinotenda, who runs Prevail Mart and Tap-and-Go, said she would provide 3,500 food hampers every month to nurses and doctors until renovation works at the hospital are complete.
“Through one of our sister companies, Prevail Mart, I have been advised that the Prevail Mart company is also going to provide 3,500 hampers to the hospital workers at Parirenyatwa, and we will continue to do so every month until we finish the renovations at Parirenyatwa for all doctors and nurses,” she said.
The donations come just weeks after nurses went on strike over poor pay, a lack of medical supplies, and worsening conditions in public hospitals, where patients often deal with drug shortages, broken equipment, and packed wards.
Prevail Group, which was handpicked for the renovations, announced a two-year free maintenance programme for the revamped nurses’ residences.
The company has also resurfaced part of Mazoe Street, which is adjacent to Parirenyatwa Hospital.
