The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed that the Meru Service Station in Kwekwe was robbed of US$9,700 on 17 November 2025.
In a statement posted on X, the ZRP said four armed suspects confronted a Fawcett security guard on duty, forced him to lie on the ground, and tied his hands and legs before dragging him into the building.
A second Fawcett officer, who ran inside to alert the Reaction Team, was also overpowered, restrained, and taken to the same room as his colleague.
The suspects then broke into another room where three more Fawcett officers were asleep. They tied up all three before proceeding to a wall-mounted safe, which they blew open and looted US$9,700.
Police did not disclose what weapons the suspects were carrying. However, Zimbabwe has recorded a rise in armed robberies involving firearms in recent years.
