A Harare woman has been granted a protection order against her daughter following allegations of physical and verbal abuse.
Hilda Mapfukudzwa appeared before Harare Civil Court Magistrate Johanna Mukweshe, seeking legal protection from her daughter, Itai Mapfukudzwa, whom she accused of hitting, stabbing, and verbally insulting her.
She said:
“One time, she stabbed my hand with a screwdriver, and I was badly injured. She calls me a prostitute in front of my neighbours.”
Hilda told the court that Itai would break into her home whenever she left for work, stealing her belongings and money.
She said:
“I don’t stay with her, so she breaks into my house with her boyfriends when I am at work, takes my property and sells it, and she even steals my money.
“I want the court to bar her from coming to steal at my house when I am not there. She should also be barred from insulting and hitting me.”
Itai failed to appear in court, and Magistrate Makumbe granted Hilda a protection order prohibiting her daughter from insulting, assaulting, or entering her home with any intent of violence.
