Former Norton legislator, Temba Mliswa (53) granted US$300 bail by a Karoi Magistrate after spending two nights in police custody.
In addition to the deposit, Mliswa was ordered to report to Borrowdale Police Station twice a month, continue residing at his usual address, and refrain from interfering with witnesses.
Mliswa is facing 3 charges of prospecting without a mining licence, cyber-bullying and operating without an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) at the Rengwe Conservancy.
However, the state was ordered to press charges of prospecting without a mining licence and operating without an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) to a company or someone representing the company.
Before his arrest, The Southern African Parliamentarians Network Against Corruption (SAPNAC) Chairperson has been accusing ZRP Officer Commanding Mashonaland West, Tawonei Nyazema of fighting him over the Conservancy.
He alleged that the Police boss is seeking to push him out and replace him with some Chinese miners.
The firebrand politician warned that a corrupt cartel also includes Mashonaland West Provincial Minister, Marian Chombo and extends to Police Commissioner General Stephen Mutamba Mutamba.
The trio have allegedly been running a scheme demanding payments from those seeking to mine along the Sanyati River which is in contravention of Statutory Instrument (SI) 188 of 2024 which barred riverbad mining.
The firebrand politician was remanded to the 17th of September 2025 for a possible trial date.
